Recording your child's learning journey
Across Nursery and Reception, we use a program called 'Tapestry' to make observations on your child. We document your child's achievements and progress, making observations when your child is playing, learning and exploring the world around them. We do this by taking photos or videos and adding written observations. We then carry out assessments, linking the observations to the Early Years Foundation Stage. We do this via our iPad interactive app, which we then upload to your child's online journal.

We encourage parents to add observations of what their child has been doing at home. This can be done easily using the app.
Q. Why use Tapestry?
Your secure access to your account allows you to view your child’s progress at any time. This ensures that all parents can become fully involved in their child’s learning and development through active participation.
Recent research has shown that when parents are involved in their child’s education (parental engagement), it is extremely beneficial to the child’s educational progress.
Q. Can I contribute to my child’s portfolio from home?
A. Yes, you can contribute by uploading a photo and writing a comment. This may be your child baking in the kitchen or pedalling their bicycle for the first time. You can download the app to your tablet or smart phone. This will enable you to login regularly and add observations easily.
Q. How do I access my child's Online Learning Journal?
A. Your child's class teacher will ask for your email details. You will then receive an activation email from Tapestry which will direct you to set up an account.
Q. What will I see when I sign in?
A. When signed in you will firstly see your child's observations. These observations will be in the order of most recent first.
You will be able to view all of your child's observations and see what they have been doing at nursery. This will include comments, photographs along with any video and audio clips.
