Introduction
Thank you, if you are visiting our website as part of the process for choosing a school to continue the development and education of your child. We warmly welcome you to our school.
We are confident that our school ethos of:
Smile - Learn - Excel
is shared and adopted by all our children. We have a dedicated, settled and experienced staff, who consistently strive to ensure that all children smile. The staff at our school believe that all children deserve the right to be happy, everyone learns and performs better when they feel good. Relationships are purposefully nurtured and developed to allow for all children to feel safe and secure. Once all these essential pieces are in place the children are truly ready to learn. We run an immersive curriculum at SLE. This is fluid and is planned on a two year cycle, ensuring that learning is delivered through a deep exploration of a topic, with clear progression and what we refer to as Wow events. These Wow events help to further inspire children in their learning and may take the form of an educational visit, or a guest visitor to our school. Wow events in the recent past include:
- A day spent at Go-Ape tree climbing in relation to a topic on Woodlands.
- A day spent at Harry Potter World (which involved a very early start).
- A visit from an Owl Sanctuary.
- A visit to a dry ski slope in relation to a topic on The Alps.
Alongside our curriculum we make a promise to attempt to provide all children with 50 wonderful experiences they may encounter during their time at SLE. These include:
- Visit a tin mine
- Build a raft
- Go on a bat walk
- Learn to cook
Finally, all children at SLE are provided with every opportunity to excel in a range of areas, including academic, sporting and performing.
