Mrs Parkinson
SENCo
Hello, I am Mrs Parkinson and have just joined SLE school as SENDCo for two days a week. I have been a teacher for 23 years and have worked in several primary schools in Cornwall, Devon and a school in Bromley, from small village primaries to large inner city infants.
I have been a SENDCo since September 2022 and truly love my job supporting all children to be successful and happy learners as well as working in partnership with families to truly understand their children's needs.
I've also learned lots about child development through my own personal experience of having 3 sons, who have kept me busy for the last 18 years.
I love spending time at the beach, swimming, running with my fun loving little dog and reading when I get half the chance.
Mrs Rowe
EYFS Lead and Tamar Class Teacher
Hello, my name is Mrs Rowe and I have worked at Shortlanesend since 2022 after moving here from another school where I was teaching for 6 years. I started off as Nursery Lead in our new nursery back in September 2022 and now have the privilege of overseeing the Early Years department at our school and work in Tamar class teaching the Reception children.
I am passionate about learning languages and can often be found bursting in to “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” in French. I believe that it is never too early to learn a new language.
Outside of school my 3 girls keep me busy. I love walking absolutely anywhere and spend my free time walking around the woods or quiet lanes near where I live so say hello if you spot me! Other hobbies include cooking (and eating!) and spending time supporting my family at the rugby.
Mrs Haynes
Kenwyn Class Teacher
My name is Mrs Haynes and I am the Kenwyn Class teacher. This is my second year at Shortlanesend and it is an absolute privilege to be in such a friendly and supportive school. My class bring happiness every morning and they are constantly providing reward for me as they progress day-to-day. Teaching is a new profession for me, during my studies of Sports Science and Public Health I worked in a range of different educational settings, this is where my passion for teaching was ignited. I enjoy making the most of the beautiful Cornish coast, therefore, often spend my days off walking in the countryside or spending some time in the sea. I believe every child deserves an enjoyable, stimulating, and effective learning environment.

Mrs Ashley
Helford Class Teacher and English Coordinator
Hello, my name is Mrs Ashley and I am the teacher of Helford Class and also the English Coordinator across the school. I joined the team at Shortlanesend in 2006 and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, teaching various different year groups. I have always wanted to teach and have now been a teacher for 18 years. My aim is to provide the children with a rich and engaging curriculum so that they can develop as individuals and gain the skills needed to become life long learners.
When not at school I am kept very busy by my three boys and can often be found on the beach.
Mr Easter
Gannel Class Teacher
Hello,
My name is Mr Easter and I am currently the teacher of Gannel Class. I have now been at Shortlanesend for 5 years and it has been an absolute privilege to work in such a supportive and friendly school. All the children at the school are amazing and are always surprising me with their curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm. Teaching is a relatively new profession for me after many years of being a chef and then working in the environmental sector with Natural England (12 years as a Reserve Warden on Goss Moor National Nature Reserve). I am passionate about the outdoors and wildlife and love wet and windy walks down at the beach or in the woods with my family.
Mr Cottis
Lynher Class Teacher
My teaching career started in 2011 after I studied a CELTA (teaching English to speakers of other languages) course. Following this, I moved to Beijing, China, teaching English to primary school pupils and subsequently taught English for a further year in Changsha, China to senior school children. I then moved to Hanoi, Vietnam to teach English for 2 more years. This was an unbelievable experience, that had me hooked on teaching, so I returned to England to study a PGCE with SEN and became a primary teacher, here, in 2015. Having mostly worked at large primary schools in Somerset, I am really enjoying the local, friendly community feel of Shortlanesend and everyday am appreciating how respectful, dedicated and cheerful the pupils are here! In my spare time I love to surf and play football as well as go away in the campervan with my family, exploring beautiful Cornwall.
Miss Annear
Nursery Lead
Hello! My name is Miss Annear and I have the privilege of leading the nursery. I have worked at Shortlanesend School since September 2022. First as nursery assistant, now as the nursery lead. I have lived in Shortlanesend all my life and even attended the school back when I was a child (many years ago). I have so many fond memories of my time here as a student, it's been amazing making more working in the nursery. In college I achieved my Level 3 Childcare and Education Diploma and I have worked as a nursery practitioner since 2017.
In my spare time you can find me having adventures with my niece and nephew and reading a good book.
